Why do I need to purchase a data subscription?

All of our products connect to live data sources such as weather, snow depth, wind speed and temperature data. We include a free 24 month subscription which will activate the first time the product is switched on and connected to Wi-Fi. When your subscription is coming to an end you can purchase a new subscription for £20 for a further 12 months. We've tried to keep this cost as low as possible and this is to cover our ongoing costs for providing the data.
